I’m a little behind on my Christmas blogging due to a rough stint with the flu. Better late than never right?

My son, Jax, was very excited when we saw this box at AC Moore and so I picked up. I’ve never really done a gingerbread house before. Well, one time with my brother and sister-in-law. Let’s just say it didn’t turn out that great. One of the biggest issues was the icing consistency and how difficult it was to get it mixed and on the house before it dried.

Anyway, the neat thing about this kit is that the icing was already made and it came with plenty! So, we started our construction. I made sure to put the snow on the roof and in yard first thing.

What was funny about building a gingerbread house with Jax is that you would think he would decorate it however he wanted. But instead he examined the box and chose one of three examples from the box called the “Starlight Chateau.” This meant that I had to make icicles, which made me a little nervous. Turns out, icicles are pretty easy. Both Jax and I had a blast putting the candy on the house. I would put the frosting/glue and he would place the candy. It was so much fun!

Here is how the whole thing turned out. We will definitely do this again next year!
